2007 Activities

We have had a very active year. The kids have been in all kinds of sports, some of which are captured here.

Sara and Jacob are definitely Best Friends!

I think this will be our new 4th of July
tradition. We launched the rockets
that Sara and Jacob made.

Jacob anxiously waiting to get back on the field.
He is quite an aggressive player!

Sara showing off her fancy footwork!

The 30" walleye I caught at
our cabin in Park Rapids.

Sara's First Communion.

Jacob and I out on Prior Lake for "Skate the Lake."
I coached Jacob's team last year.

South Dakota

In the middle of the summer, we drove out to South Dakota with three other families to check out the Badlands, Mt Rushmore, and the other sites. This was an awesome vacation! The kids loved it, and we couldn't believe the number of activities and sites to see!

We stopped at the Badlands on the way out, although since it was 110+ degrees, we didn't stay long.

What amazing views!

One of the great sites to see!

Nothing like horseback riding through the mountains!!!

The wildlife were everywhere... so much that Jacob fit right in!

This was one of several "bear stories" that I shared with the kids. We were looking for sleeping bears, so I sent the kids to check out the "bear's den" that we found. The kids were so into it, that Jacob insisted on taking his weapon with (a small branch barely visible in his left hand) in case he actually saw one.

One of the interesting sites..... everything in this building was a little slanted. (and no, Sara isn't leaning on the wall)

Rhonda trying to be a cowboy!

Jacob is a ham in front of a camera!

We stopped at Sioux Falls on the way out
to get a break from the long drive.
The kids loved the water park at the hotel.

Hawaii

Hawaii

For our 10-year anniversary, I chose to take Rhonda to Hawaii. We stayed at the Marriott resort (gotta love those points programs!) on Oahu. It was a great location, as it was way off the beaten path, with private lagoons, incredible sunsets, and great walking trails along the ocean. We did a day trip to the North Shore where all the major league surfers show off their stuff. That day, the waves were over 10' and warning conditions were out due to the strong surf.

We went scuba diving several times as well. However, this was our least favorite location for scuba. The waters were rough, and the islands are relatively young, so the coral is not as magnificant as in the Carribean. The rest of the time was pretty much just laying on the beach and enjoying our time together.

It was impossible to take for granted the beauty that God gives us.

One of the many "photo ops".

The panoromic view from on top of Diamond Head was incredible,
although the hundreds of stairs was a challenge...
but well worth it!
